Sophocles' Oedipus Rex and Antigone?

I am writing a research paper on Antigone and Oedipus Rex. We must address the irony in the plays and the question of free will vs fate. We also are supposed to analyze the methods of Sophocles in the plays. Can anyone help me with the last part? WHat methods did he use?
