Why are the plays Antigone and Oedipus the King important now?

both deal with themes that can be applied to modern day society as well as the society they were written in. for instance, Antigone deals with the themes of the law of man versus the law of gods , the connsequence of actions , and standing up for you ideals/beliefs, while Oedipus examines the idea of fate, and examines the question of if knowledge of the future even if its bad is better than total ignorance of what is to come
