How does the images create a theme in Oedipus the King?

I don't know about imagery, but the symbol of eyes and the motif of seeing and blindness (and the irony associated with the motif- the characters that are literally blind are the ones that can see in the figurative sense and the ones that can literally see are the ones that are blind in the figurative sense) creates a theme of intentional ignorance, hubris, and the power of the realization of truth.
